The Motion Clinic Group

The Motion Clinic Group

We acquire healthcare practices and help build their next chapter.

The Motion Clinic Group is a clinician-led group founded in Essex. We work with owners who care deeply about what happens to their patients, their team and the reputation they have built.

We protect what makes each practice successful, support its people and invest in the facilities, systems and services it needs for the future.

The practices

Independent identities. Shared clinical ambition.

The practices and services connected to The Motion Clinic Group include businesses owned by the Group and independently operated practices led by its founders.

Each retains its own identity and patient relationships while benefiting from clinical collaboration, shared expertise and the wider development of the Group.

About the group

Built by clinicians, for the long term.

The Motion Clinic Group brings together established healthcare practices specialising in foot health, foot and ankle surgery, rehabilitation and human movement.

We work with owners who are planning for retirement or considering the next stage of their business. Our approach is to understand what already works, protect the practice's reputation and patient relationships, and invest in its people, facilities, technology and future development.

As the Group grows, we are creating a more connected clinical network where practitioners can collaborate and refer across disciplines, giving patients access to a broader range of assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services while preserving their freedom of choice.

We are also developing the governance and regulatory infrastructure needed to support an expanding multidisciplinary healthcare group, including CQC registration.

The Motion Clinic Group is led by practising clinicians, not a private equity fund. Decisions are made by people who continue to see patients and understand the realities of delivering care.

The people behind it

Ewan Kannegieter

Ewan Kannegieter

Co-Founder and Director · Consultant Podiatric Surgeon

Ewan is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, co-founder of The Motion Clinic Group and founder of Kann Foot Surgery. He brings more than 25 years' experience in foot and ankle care and has performed over 10,000 surgical procedures.

A Past Dean of the Faculty of Podiatric Surgery at the Royal College of Podiatry, Ewan is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in the USA. His career has included clinical leadership, research, professional education and the training and mentoring of clinicians.

At The Motion Clinic Group, Ewan leads clinical strategy, governance and professional standards. He also works directly with practice owners considering retirement or the future of their businesses. As a clinician and practice owner himself, he understands the importance of protecting a practice's reputation while investing in its team, services and long-term development.

Sian Thomasson

Sian Thomasson

Co-Founder and Director · Podiatrist

Sian is a podiatrist, co-founder of The Motion Clinic Group and founder of Chelmsford and Braintree Footcare. She qualified in 2004 before completing an MSc in Podiatric Surgery and undertaking postgraduate surgical training across several NHS services.

Her clinical experience encompasses biomechanics, musculoskeletal and sports podiatry, nail surgery and the wider management of foot and lower-limb conditions. She has also provided podiatric expertise to the Royal Ballet and at the London Marathon.

Having established and developed her own successful private practice, Sian understands the clinical and operational realities of running a healthcare business. At The Motion Clinic Group, she leads practice operations, team development and the integration of new clinics. She works closely with owners and their teams to preserve what makes each practice distinctive while introducing the training, support and infrastructure it needs to thrive beyond the owner's sale.

Selling your business

What happens when you sell to us.

Many of the owners we speak to are not actively on the market. They simply want to understand what a sale could look like before deciding whether to take the conversation further. Here is how our process works.

What we look for

  • An established, well-run practice with a team patients know and trust
  • A clinician-led healthcare business in movement, health and wellbeing, or a related field
  • An owner who cares what happens to the team and the patients after the sale
  • A single site or multi-site practice

What we protect and build on

  • Practice identity and reputation
  • The team and its future
  • Clinical judgement, supported by shared expertise
  • Continuity of care for patients

Where we typically invest

  • Premises, clinical environments and equipment
  • Booking, reception and patient communications
  • Websites, local visibility and responsible marketing
  • Business systems and administrative support, giving clinicians more time for patients
  • Training, professional development and new clinical services

How it works

  1. An initial conversationYou speak directly with Sian and Ewan, not a broker or analyst. The conversation is confidential, informal and carries no obligation.
  2. A confidential reviewBefore confidential financial information is exchanged, we put an appropriate non-disclosure agreement in place. We then review the accounts, premises, lease arrangements and team structure. If we do not believe it is the right fit, we will say so promptly.
  3. A clear offerWe explain the proposed value, structure, timing and what would happen after completion in plain English before either party instructs solicitors.
  4. A properly planned handoverWe agree a transition that works for the owner, the team and the practice.

Start the conversation

A confidential conversation with two clinicians who understand practice ownership.

If you own a healthcare practice and are considering retirement, succession or the next stage of its development, speak directly with Sian and Ewan.

An initial conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We will listen, explain how we work and tell you honestly whether we believe there may be a good fit.

  • Direct contact with the Group's two founders
  • A confidential and personal response
  • Respect for the practice, its people and the legacy you have built

Clinicians and support staff who want to build something.

We are a growing group of clinics with a clinical leadership team, not a chain. If you are a podiatrist, physiotherapist, foot and ankle specialist, osteopath, SEM, MSK sonographer, HCA, phlebotomist, GP or someone who makes a clinic run well, we would like to hear from you, whether or not a role is advertised.
